Winter Solstice Viewing At The Crane Petroglyph Heritage Site

Join Ken Zoll, VVAC's Director Emeritus, for an in-person talk about this midwinter day, that is the shortest period of daylight and is the longest night of the year. Witness two solar light daggers appear on the petroglyph site, which marks this important occasion. 

Many thanks to our friends at the Forest Service for accommodating this special event! 

Event Schedule: 

  • Arrive by 12:30pm for the 1/3rd mile walk to the site

  • Ken Zoll's Talk at 1:00pm

  • First Solstice Dagger to Appear at 1:50pm

  • Second Solstice Dagger to Appear at 3:10pm

  • Gates Close at 4:00pm 

A Red Rock Pass or equivalent is required for parking. A Day Pass can be purchased on-site.

Please dress warmly and bring a foldable camp chair if needed. Please note, this event is weather dependent.
