Executive Director Ken Zoll will lead a member-only excursion to Eastern Arizona. The primary visit will be to the Casa Malpais National Historic Landmark. Ken conducted a 3-year study of the astronomical features of the site. The site includes a well preserved room block, Great Kiva, rock art and circular structure thought to be an astronomical observatory. His monograph on the study is available on Amazon.

Other sites to be visited will include the Lyman Lake State Park Petroglyph Island and Rattlesnake Ruin. Other site visits are being planned.

August temperatures average 83 degrees during the day and 44 degrees at night. Most visits will be during the morning hours before possible afternoon monsoons. We will leave most afternoons free to explore the various nature preserves of the White Mountains on your own.

The fee for this excursion is $125 per person, which includes any entrance fees. There is a maximum of 20 participants.

A special rate has been negotiated with the Sunrise Inn Best Western in Eagar. A limit of 10 rooms are being held until July 6.

Additional details will be released as developed.
