Archaeologist Miles Gilbert will present a program entitled “Hashknife Cowboy Archaeology”.  The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRSC) funded removal of brushy juniper from many thousands of acres of rangeland across the former Hashknife Ranch. In its heyday it covered some two million acres and had one pasture that encompassed 900 square miles. Prior to brush removal archaeological surveys were conducted resulting in the discovery of ancient man sites, prehistoric pueblos, and cowboy campsites. This event is free and open to all.
